There’s no business like shoe
business” reads amidst by the 9 Till 5 collection, the newest from British
label Charlotte Olympia.
Pumps from 9 Till 5 are a
little more pared-down than Charlotte Olympia’s usual fantastically thematic
collections but still carry notions of vintage glam. Silhouettes are kept
practical through low and chunky heels, and for the higher insteps, minimal
adornments that won’t send any red flags to a conservative work attire dress
code. Margaret is an almond toe pump with a 2” chunky heel lined with
clear PVC tied bow on the toe box. Oprah (is it no coincidence that
this shoe bares the same name as one of the most savvy businesswomen of our
time?) is a magenta suede pump finished with a PVC toe cap of the same color.
At higher heel heights are
the Catherine, Natalie and Arianna. The first of which
is done in the same rich magenta suede as Oprah but instead of a PVC
toe cap it’s a square buckle adornment across the toes, calling to mind the
classy adornment that has graced shoes as far back as the
1950′s. Charlotte Olympia flexes more of its color palette with Natalie, which
is a refined pointed toe pump available in black, grey, and burgundy. Natalie is
finished with criss-crossing PVC cutouts across the toe box, flattering the
foot and adding a little bit of sexy into an already elegant shoe. And
finally, Arianna is as close as 9 Till 5 gets to menswear-inspired
shoes – it is a two-tone walnut and beige brogue pump. The collection’s teaser
images suggest more colorways are on the way.
Each style from this collection is
packaged in a briefcase-inspired box designed specifically to fit underneath a
desk and comes with matching stockings. As all shoe boxes from Charlotte
Olympia, it is finished with an adhesive Polaroid picture to be set outside the
box for reference.
